This will install the drivers necessary to run the dongle as a software defined radio. Note that you may need to run zadig.exe again if you move the dongle to another USB port, or want to use two or more dongles together. Open SDRSharp.exe and set the “Source” drop down box to ‘RTL-SDR (USB)’. This “Source” tab is on the top left. Over the years, the technology related to Software Defined Radios (SDR), has changed. The rapid technological growth means that there will always be a change in the SDRs out there on the market. As a radio enthusiast, it is important that you find a suitable solution to let you modify your radios accordingly. The Wireless Innovation Forum defines SDR as follows: “Radio in which some or all of the physical layer functions are software defined” This white paper presents the basic idea behind SDR and provides an overview of the Rohde & Schwarz radios. Chapter 2 presents the T&M solutions offered by Rohde & Schwarz. 1.1 Software defined radio (SDR). SDR-IQ: PnP 0.1 kHz – 30 MHz? USB Yes Yes Yes US$525 SDR-IP: PnP 0.1 kHz – 34 MHz? The software defined radio servers listed here have been selected for geographical coverage andquality of reception. Performance and coverage vary depending on hardware, internet bandwidth, andradio conditions at individual sites. This is not an exhastive list, as server availability changeson a daily basis! To see what is immediately available, visit the live online lists.
During peak operating periods, it may be difficult or impossible to use some of the sites. The KiwiSDRs have limited channels available. WebSDR servers can take more users, up to thepoint where CPU capability and internet bandwidth are limiting factors.
Software defined radio servers listed here are operated by volunteers, bearing their own expensesfor the equipment and bandwidth. Be sure to do what you can to support those sites - linking to them, promoting them among your fellow radio listeners, and donating if they have set up a patronage process. To the server operators: we appreciate your effort!
