Has anyone in Ars-land used a Microchip PICKit Serial Analyzer?

I have been given a task that requires communication via I2C and I am unfamiliar with the I2C protocol. I have been asked if it would be possible to read and write all 2000 bytes on an EEPROM with the PICKit Serial Analyzer via I2C. After a few failed attempts, I realized what the Read function provided by PICKitS.dll is saying:

That the maximum starting address can only be 255 and that I can only read 255 bytes. The Write function has the same bounds. Am I limited to reading/writing at most 511 bytes or is there some way to extend p_num_bytes_to_read or p_start_data_addr beyond 255? If I want to read/write more bytes, would I need to use a more low-level approach?
