Autocad Wipeout Settings

Apr 11, 2013

  • Combine polyline and wipeout - the app groups outer polyline with an internal masking object (wipeout). Spline Processing. Standard mode (recommended) - the app converts mathematical models of splines and ellipses into sets of lines and arcs using the method of piecewise-linear approximation at the stage of outline construction.
  • Create polygon object with a lot of sides2. Type wipeout (enter)3. Type P (enter), and select polygon object (enter)4.

We have recently upgraded from AutoCAD 2010 and are having an issue with our wipeouts not displaying properly when we make a pdf using DWG to PDF in AutoCAD 2013.
It seems to happen when a wipeout is in an XREF and has many points, such as if you are trying to make it circular. The wipeout does not seem to function (you can see everything behind it).
When making a pdf using adobe or just making a .plt using a printer driver it displays properly but not with the dwg to pdf. I have tinkered with the display order, the display settings, the merge control setting, etc. so far nothing has worked. I have gone into the file that is XREF'ed into my active drawing and made a pdf from there and it looks ok but not when it is XREF'ed into another drawing. I have many blocks that have 'circular' wipeouts in them that are not displaying correctly.

Option 'Settings'

Displays a dialog box with the adjustable parameters of the program (Fig. 3):

Tolerance Settings.

  • Use automatic tolerance - allows the program to automatically calculate the optimal tolerance value for a current set of selected objects.
  • Use custom value of tolerance - allows the user to specify the required tolerance value. In this case you should avoid excessively large values.

Boundary settings.

Autocad Wipeout Settings
  • Optimize boundary - activates the function of removing redundant vertices of the resulting outline.
  • Generate solid filled shape - in place of outlines generates solid filled shapes (Fig. 4):
Fig. 4
  • Generate polyline - draws a closed polyline around the outside of selected objects (Fig. 5):
Fig. 5
  • Generate wipeout object - places the masking object (wipeout) in the inner area of an outline. Allows you to hide internal objects (Fig. 6):
Fig. 6
  • Combine polyline and wipeout - the app groups outer polyline with an internal masking object (wipeout).

Spline Processing.

  • Standard mode (recommended) - the app converts mathematical models of splines and ellipses into sets of lines and arcs using the method of piecewise-linear approximation at the stage of outline construction.
  • Accelerated mode - allows the app to operate splines as 'solid objects' without using preliminary transformations.

Color Settings.

  • Use current color - assigns the current AutoCAD color to the resulting outlines.
  • Use random color - generates and assigns random colors to resulting outlines.
  • Use my favorite color - assigns custom colors to the resulting outlines.

Saving settings.

Once all the settings are made, they are to be saved before continuing with the application. To do so, click the 'Apply' button. Once everything is saved, you can leave the settings window ('Close' button).
